The school is of such poor quality that it hurts the real estate values in the south end of he city. Why is it called Coconut Creek High if only 10 percent of the kids are from Creek. Another idea is to force the school board to make it a full magnet school that does have a zone boundary like Pompano High.

Margaret, boundaries maps are set by the Broward County School Board, not the City of Coconut Creek. Stay tuned for exciting changes taking place at Coconut Creek High.

Ms. Sombric, Hello, this is Scott Fiske, Principal of Coconut Creek High School. I agree with you that only a small portion of the City of Coconut Creek is in our boundary. However I must disagree with your position on the quality of our school. We are not without our challenges, but we have made tremendous strides in this last year alone at the school. A the beginning of this school year we opened two one-of-a-kind programs at the school. The first is the Creek Technical Academy in partnership with Atlantic Technical College. In this program, all current 9th grade students will have the opportunity to graduate high school with a high school diploma, and an industry credential and articulated college credits. The second program is the Creek Collegiate Academy in partnership with the University of Florida. This program will allow students to graduate high school with a high school diploma and between 45 and 70 college credits. Lastly, we are in the planning and preparation stages to open a new magnet program in the areas of Public Safety and Public Service in the 2015-16 school year.

I invite you to call me (754-322-0354) to schedule a time to meet at the school so you can see what is truly happening at Coconut Creek High School. Perhaps you even consider volunteering at our school to help us continue to improve.

Finally, I am well aware that there are many families that live in South Creek that choose educational opportunities for their children other than Coconut Creek High School. Most of these decisions are made without a visit to the school or even a phone call to me or our guidance staff to gain information about the school. I am confident that if all of the students zoned for Coconut Creek High School attended the school, we could all work together to make the school an even better place.

As an alumni and first graduating class of CCHS I remember participating in city events with Band performances and club events that showcased our school and community. As a former teacher for 30 years with the Broward County Schools I realize the challenges we all face. Maybe we can create a school community public relations committee to improve school/ community relations

A possible solution might be to consider a Leadership magnet school since the ROTC component is already in place. This change could benefit the community and help change image of school.
